Since it was started by Adam Darragh in 2008, our Saturday Skills program has grown to become the most successful skills program in Queensland.

Club of the Year

The Varsity Vipers Basketball Club has been awarded Club Champions in four successive years, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

We are Queensland’s Largest Junior Club with more than 500 players competing each week and more than 1200 members involved in our programs.

Our History

  • 2008
    Adam Darragh runs the first Saturday Skills session at Varsity College.
  • 2010
    Adam Darragh and Elizabeth Albury incorporate the Vipers Basketball Club.
  • 2013
    The Vipers join the Mens and Womens Premier League.
  • 2014
    Scott McGregor starts the Viperball program for 5-7 year olds.
  • 2020
    The Vipers win the Club Championship.
  • 2021
    The Vipers win the Club Championship for the second time.
  • 2022
    Simon Stevens starts the High Performance Program. Vipers win the Club Championship for the 3rd time.
  • 2023
    The Girls Only program is launched. The Vipers win the Club Championship for the 4th consecutive year.

Policies

  • The Varsity Viper Basketball Club provides compulsory player injury insurance through Basketball Queensland.


    Membership with Basketball Queensland includes cover under the Basketball Australia State and Territory National Insurance Program.

  • Withdraws before Playing

    A player who withdraws from a competition after being placed in a team may request a refund of game fees by writing to the Committee outlining the reason and circumstances.

    Withdraws after playing

    Players who withdraw after playing a game (including grading) can request a refund of game fees for the second half of the season only. No game fees will be refunded after Round 10.

    Withdraws due to Injury

    Players who are injured and provide a medical certificate confirming they are medically unable to complete the season may be offered a partial refund.

    Non-refundable fees

    Non-refundable fees include:

    • player registration fees

    • team nomination fees

    • uniform fees

    • administration fees

    • ‘Get Started’ Grant Vouchers

    Any Club Fees paid with a Get Started Grant Voucher will be deducted from the refund.

    The Committee reserves the right to vary this policy based on individual circumstances.
