How Can We Help?

Saturday Skills teaches basketball fundamentals in a family-friendly environment. Sessions run every Saturday of the school term across age groups, from Viperball for 5 to 7 year olds through to our senior sessions. Sessions cost $10 each.

The program operates every Saturday of the school term and closes during school holidays.

Annual membership starts at $60, plus $10 per session. Your first visit is free. Members receive a welcome pack with a Vipers t-shirt and water bottle, and registered competition players have membership included.

Sessions accommodate new and experienced players at each age group.

Yes. It serves both skill levels and is a great place to meet other players and work on your skills.

At the Varsity College Basketball Courts on Assembly Drive, Varsity Lakes. There is a coffee van and a sausage sizzle on site most weeks.

The High Performance Program is tailored for dedicated players aiming to elevate their game to the highest standard, with advanced training.

Viperball is our introductory program for 5 to 7 year olds, started in 2014. It teaches the basics through games rather than drills, and runs as the first Saturday Skills session of the morning.

Yes. The Girls Only program launched in 2023 and runs as a dedicated Saturday Skills session, creating a supportive environment for skills, competition preparation and basketball IQ.

We accept players as young as 7 for the U10 age group, though six months at Saturday Skills is recommended beforehand.

New players complete a players' expression of interest and attend a trial. The Vipers are at capacity in 2026, so a place is only offered if there is room in your age group — we are not adding new teams.

Winter runs April to August and Summer runs October to March. Winter registration opens in March, Summer in August.

Training is at the Varsity College Basketball Stadium on Assembly Drive, Varsity Lakes. Sessions run for one hour between 4pm and 7pm, Monday to Friday.

The competition runs across Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at the Gold Coast Sports & Leisure Centre. Wednesday 6pm to 10pm for Open Girls, U18 Boys and U21 Boys; Friday 5pm to 10pm for U14 and U16 Girls and Boys; Saturday 8am to 1:30pm for the U10 and U12 age groups.

Uniforms are ordered from our uniforms page. Second-hand uniforms are not permitted.

You can use a FairPlay voucher for player registration by uploading it during signup.

For the 2026 Winter season the Vipers playing fee is $375.00, plus the Gold Coast competition fee of $55.00, the Basketball Australia fee of $5.50 and the Basketball Queensland fee. For the 2026/27 Summer season the Vipers club fee is $390.00, plus the $75.00 Gold Coast competition fee and the Basketball Queensland annual fee. Both season pages list the full tables.

Team registration fees, game fees, forfeits and fines, hire of training courts, and administration.

A player who withdraws from a competition after being placed in a team may request a refund of game fees by writing to the Committee outlining the reason and circumstances.

Players who withdraw after playing a game, including grading, can request a refund of game fees for the second half of the season only. No game fees will be refunded after Round 10.

Players who are injured and provide a medical certificate confirming they are medically unable to complete the season may be offered a partial refund.

Player registration fees, team nomination fees, uniform fees, administration fees and 'Get Started' grant vouchers are not refundable. Any club fees paid with a Get Started grant voucher will be deducted from the refund. The Committee reserves the right to vary this policy based on individual circumstances.

The Varsity Vipers Basketball Club provides compulsory player injury insurance through Basketball Queensland. Membership with Basketball Queensland includes cover under the Basketball Australia State and Territory National Insurance Program.

By registering, players and parents agree to the club code of conduct. Players play in the spirit of the game and follow the directions of coaches and officials. Parents support coaches, referees and volunteers, never abuse or intimidate anyone, and raise concerns through club channels rather than during games. The club has zero tolerance for bullying, harassment, discrimination or abuse, and breaches can lead to warnings, suspension or termination of membership.Read the full code of conduct

The club collects only what it needs to run the club — player and guardian names, contact and emergency details, and any medical information needed for player safety. It does not share, sell or disclose personal information to outside parties without your consent, except where required by law, and it never passes member details to sponsors. A team coach runs one training session a week and takes the team on game day. No experience is needed — the club will train you, and the coaches manual, drill videos and Villy, our coaching assistant, are all in Coaches Corner.Go to Coaches Corner

A team manager coordinates the logistics for a competition team — parent communication, game day management, player attendance and the admin that goes with it. It works out to about one evening plus game day each week, and it is the role that makes a coach's job possible.See all volunteer roles

Coaching and managing means working with children, so the club will confirm which checks you need and help you through the application. Queensland has exemptions in some circumstances, so check with the committee rather than assuming either way — email info@varsityvipers.com.au before your first session.

Tell your coach and the committee as early as you can. Gold Coast Basketball charges the club a forfeit fee, and that fee rises sharply as the notice period shortens — the difference between a day of warning and an hour of warning is hundreds of dollars, so early notice genuinely matters.

Varsity Vipers is the largest junior basketball club in Queensland, thanks to the efforts of volunteers. Every team needs coaches and managers, and basketball expertise isn't required. The volunteers page lists every role and the time each one takes.

We welcome sponsorship opportunities to support our club and its young athletes. Benefits include logo placement on our website and social media, promotion in club communications, recognition at events, and community engagement alignment. Community Partner packages start at $250 a year.
