The Summer season
Summer Basketball On The Gold Coast
The Summer season runs in the Gold Coast Junior Basketball League. It is a fun, competitive and inclusive competition, and it is where our juniors do most of their real game development. Vipers enter teams from Under 10s through to Open Girls.
Players trial before each season. That is how we rank players and build teams with players of similar skill and ability. Trials for the 2026/27 Summer season have closed.
The season is two grading weeks, fourteen rounds, semi-finals for the top four teams, then the grand final. There are no games over the Christmas break.
Places are capped. Venue space, court time and coaching numbers set the limit, which is why a waitlist place is not a place in a team.
Trials for this season have closed. Players on the waitlist are considered only if a place opens in their age group.
Players are selected to teams based on skill levels and trial performance.
All players need a Vipers club uniform available from the club for $95. Players can try on, pay for and collect their uniform at any Saturday Skills session or our Uniform Day.

- Round 7 is a split round, played across two weeks.
- Round 11 is played on either Saturday 13 or Sunday 14 February.
- There are no games between Round 7 and Round 8 over the Christmas break.

How to use this table
Use your player's year of birth to determine their age group for the Summer season. Since the Summer season ends in 2027, your players' eligibility is determined by their age on the last day of 2027.
U16 Division 1 players are permitted to play in the Open Girls competition.
Players can only play in one competition.

Add your player to the waitlist for the Summer season. There is no fee.

Wait for teams
Teams are announced by Wednesday 16 September.

Receive an offer
If a place opens in your player’s age group we will be in touch. Players offered a place then register in Basketball Connect.
- 04
Meet your team
Your team coach or manager gathers the team for the first training in Term 4, week 1.
Volunteers
Coach Or Manage A Team
Every team the club nominates needs a coach and a manager, and no experience is required — the club trains you and every drill, plan and template is in Coaches Corner. A coach runs one training a week and takes the team on game day. A manager handles the comms, the scoring and the game-day admin.
Takes about three minutes, and it is not a commitment.
