In November 2025, Varsity Vipers was named Sporting Club of the Year at the inaugural McPherson Honours.
The award was presented by Leon Rebello MP, the Federal Member for McPherson.
What are the McPherson Honours?
The McPherson Honours are Leon Rebello's awards for the southern Gold Coast's quiet achievers. They recognise the local heroes, volunteers, community groups and small businesses who make a difference in McPherson.
The first McPherson Honours drew more than 150 nominations across 14 categories, from Local Hero to Small Business of the Year.
Why does this award matter to the club?
Varsity Vipers is run by volunteers. More than 60 volunteers coach, manage teams and run Saturday Skills for more than 500 players.
This award belongs to them. It recognises the coaches, managers, canteen helpers and committee members who give up their time every week so junior players in Varsity Lakes can play basketball.
Who do we thank?
Thank you to Leon Rebello MP and his McPherson office for this recognition and for their continued support of the club.
Thank you also to our players, families, volunteers and partners. You make Varsity Vipers the club it is.
